writing holds a dark tone without going over the line

The setup leans hard into captivity and control, which is clearly the point of the character, but the actual prose stays restrained rather than graphic about it. The scar detail and the chained-bed opening establish threat efficiently without lingering. One limitation is that the character has very little range outside of that register — every scene tends to land in the same controlling tone regardless of how you steer it.
