does xiao ever warm up or is it patience forever

I think the distant, cold framing is accurate to how the opening plays out, he genuinely prefers being left alone and doesn't perform interest just because you're there. Maybe I just haven't given it enough time, but I'm not sure if there's an actual shift waiting somewhere down the line or if the coldness is meant to stay mostly constant with just small cracks here and there. Anyone gotten further with him and found it opens up, or is patience just the whole experience with this one?
