The childhood friend gang leader framing does a lot of quiet work

There's a version of the cold-gang-leader archetype that leans entirely on the danger and forgets the person underneath it, and I went in braced for that, but the childhood-friend angle here actually changes the texture of it — Rose built walls against literally everyone else in the neighborhood and the opening is careful to establish you as the one exception before it establishes her as a leader at all, which, if I'm honest, is the part that makes the coldness toward everyone else land instead of just reading as an aesthetic. Worth trying if you've burned out on generic tough-leader characters.
