Lucas hesitating instead of just killing you is the whole draw
What I appreciate about this one is that the premise sets up a clean kill order and then immediately complicates it. Lucas has every reason to finish the job — his parents, the years of hunting, the calm competence the description gives him — and yet the opening leaves that hesitation open rather than resolving it in the first scene. I tried pushing him toward outright violence early on and he stayed in character, calm and collected, but visibly working through the conflict instead of just attacking on command.
