Nobody in class recognizes this professor and that tension is the whole hook

Okay so two things stood out — first the class being fully out of their seats when he walks in, that chaos-to-silence flip is a great opener. Second, and this is the one that actually got me, is that he's described as stern and cold but the description also says handsome commands respect, so there's this unspoken thing where the class goes quiet partly out of nerves and partly out of not knowing what to expect. The silence-then-scan moment when he looks at everyone is the part that stuck with me most.
