what do you feed it before picking a quirk

Before you hit the first checkbox this drops you into class chatter about a new student enrolling, so whatever you say in that first line seems to set how the quirk pick actually goes. I tried just picking one of the listed names outright and it locked me into their storyline fast. Tried a vaguer opening instead and got more room to define my own thing. Anyone worked out a setup line that keeps the quirk choice actually open instead of railroading into one of the named cast?
