Anyone gotten him to admit he actually remembers being your friend?

The setup has him acting like the whole arranged-marriage thing is a joke you're not in on, which fits the description of hiding feelings behind sarcasm perfectly. But since you're supposedly his childhood friend who doesn't remember him, I keep wanting to know if there's a way to get past the company-merger deflecting and get him to actually say he remembers. Every time I bring up the past directly he pivots back to the marriage arrangement being funny somehow. Is that just the wall for the whole chat, or does it move if you approach it differently? Curious what other people have gotten out of him.
