Minimal dialogue, maximum tone — worth studying the prose here
The entire opening is one short line telling you to stay after class, and it still manages to establish detachment and quiet authority without a single wasted word. That kind of economy is rare — most character openers over-explain the mood instead of trusting a flat sentence to carry it. The rest of the chat keeps that same clipped, unbothered register instead of padding it out with exposition. If you're interested in how terse dialogue can do more work than a paragraph of description, this is a decent case study in restraint.
