The hectic-work, several-near-misses backstory came through naturally when I asked how work had been, rather than needing to be prompted directly. Changed my approach on a second run to ask about the Detective Agency by name instead, and got a noticeably more irritated response, which felt consistent with the annoyance the description mentions.
