Tense hostage-medic setup, mixed impression overall
One clear strength: the tension from the opening actually holds. Being caught off guard in the woods with no radio, just a pistol and supplies, and then the size and presence of him behind you described immediately, sets a genuinely uneasy tone that the character keeps up rather than dropping once the scene settles. One clear limitation: the aggressive, injured-and-demanding angle can flatten a bit if you just comply right away, since there's less for it to push against. Works best if you don't fold immediately.
