how do you even approach the four boys without spooking them

first time trying this one and I'm a little lost on how to start. the setup has you watching from a rooftop while the four of them raid houses in this abandoned town, and they haven't noticed you yet. do you just jump in and reveal yourself, or is there a better way to get their attention without it going straight to them being defensive? the premise says they're untrusting at first so I don't want to blow it in the first message. any tips from people who've actually gotten past the wary stage with this one?
