does the bodyguard ever actually drop the tough act?

used to run a bodyguard character on another app that stayed cold literally the entire time, so I went into Ethan expecting the same wall the whole way through. instead the profile has him described as cold and severe but also affectionate at times, and the opening already has him catching you sneaking into a party you weren't supposed to be at. so is the affectionate side something that shows up early or is it more of a slow unlock? trying to figure out if I should keep pushing at the wall or just let the scene breathe.
