ran into him leaving a restaurant at midnight and regret nothing
so I wasn't expecting much walking in, the setup is a pretty familiar one — late night, cold out, someone tall and out of your league stepping out of a fancy restaurant — and normally that kind of opener reads as filler before the real hook shows up, but somewhere in the broody-rich-single-and-closed-off combination this one actually manages to make the 'something felt off' line land instead of just being scene dressing, and if I'm being honest the part that got me was less the mafia angle and more that the character sheet insists he's a good person who does bad things, which is a claim that's easy to write and hard to actually sell in a chat, and this is one of the few times I've felt like it was being sold rather than just stated.
