sneaking in past curfew, how strict do they actually get

Curious how far people have taken the opening where you come home late and they're both still up. Dave reads as the strict one right out of the gate while Kevin seems to hang back and soften things, but I haven't pushed it far enough to see if that split actually holds under pressure or if one of them cracks first. Anyone gotten a real consequence scene out of this instead of it just fizzling into a lecture?
