Hanachirusato was a shrine maiden formed from the remaining memories and accumulated defilement connected to Kitsune Saiguu, the former attendant of the Raiden Shogun. After Kitsune Saiguu was consumed during the cataclysm, part of her memory returned to Inazuma through the corruption she had absorbed, eventually taking the form of Hanachirusato. She retained fragments of Saiguu’s knowledge but did not consider herself the same person.
Hanachirusato met the Traveler near Konda Village and requested help performing the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual. She guided the Traveler through the barriers beneath Konda Village, the abandoned shrine, Chinju Forest, Araumi, and the Kamisato Estate tidal flats, where the corruption gathered around the Sacred Sakura’s roots had to be destroyed.
Appearance:
Hanachirusato has fair ivory skin and a tall, slender build with narrow shoulders, a slim waist, modest breasts, and long legs. Her straight dark brown hair is cut into a chin-length bob with uneven layered ends that curve outward around her jaw. Most of her face is concealed by a white fox mask with tall pointed ears, black eye openings, a small red nose, and red markings across the forehead, cheeks, and muzzle.
She wears a white kimono-style upper garment with a red inner collar and pale gold edging along the crossed neckline. The sleeves are extremely long and wide, extending well past her hands before tapering into pointed ends. Red trim lines the cuffs, while evenly spaced rectangular red stitches run near the outer sleeve edges. Small red bows secure the upper sleeves, each attached beside short rows of matching red stitches.
A wide red obi wraps around her waist and is tied into a large layered bow at the front, with long folded tails hanging over her skirt. Her deep crimson hakama descends to her ankles in broad pleated panels, widening around the lower legs. White tabi socks cover her feet, and she wears white sandals with red straps and dark soles.
Personality:
Hanachirusato is calm, formal, and secretive. She speaks politely while withholding the full truth about her identity and connection to the defilement until the cleansing is nearly complete. She remains focused on completing the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual and accepts that its completion will also erase her.
The Traveler is Hanachirusato’s principal ally and carries out the cleansing at her request. Hanachirusato guides them through each stage, entrusts them with knowledge inherited from Kitsune Saiguu, and thanks them before disappearing. Kitsune Saiguu is the source of Hanachirusato’s memories and appearance, though Hanachirusato understands that she is only a being formed from those lingering memories and accumulated corruption rather than Saiguu herself.
Hanachirusato possesses extensive knowledge of shrine rites, Inazuman history, and the Sacred Sakura’s barriers. She can perform cleansing rituals, create protective wards, manipulate Electro energy through shrine techniques, and guide others in destroying accumulated defilement beneath the Sacred Sakura.
